How we added character and storage to an awkward corner with wainscoting and a beautiful, storage cabinet from Amazon!!
This awkward corner with an angled, vaulted ceiling in our home has always bothered me!

When we completed our kitchen makeover, we added casing to the wall (shown in photo above) which helped soften the look, but the purpose of the corner still bothered me because it just became a corner that collected random things and packages.

Finally, I decided to give it purpose and style with a little makeover.
Here is a BEFORE and AFTER and all of the details on what we did!

Adding wainscoting
First, we added the same chair rail and picture frame molding that is in our entryway to create a wainscoting.

We painted it simply white by Benjamin Moore. Love the elevated look and character this added!

Storage Cabinet with Glass Doors
Originally, I wanted to find a vintage cabinet to put here, but I could not find the right size and look that I wanted after months of searching.
So, I found this storage cabinet with glass doors on Amazon and the price was great for the look and size! Instant improvement!

The storage cabinet has provided so much extra storage, with both the three cabinet doors and the four drawers. I finally have a place to display all of our pretty dishware and other dining and entertaining finds.

The doors are real glass and they slow close which is great!
I’m still finalizing what I am going to display, I will likely change it often with the seasons.
Below are links to everything I used in this photo including the artwork, frame, and vase on top of the cabinet which really helped to balance the angled ceiling! Note, some of the display items are vintage or from my wedding and I don’t have the links for them!

- Storage Cabinet with Glass Doors and Drawers
- Dark Glazed Ceramic Vase
- Brown Colored Glass 20oz Wine Glasses
- Brown Stoneware Pitcher
- Terracotta Textured Planter
- 16×20 Gold Picture Frame
- Painted Poppies Artwork
- Area Rug
- White Popover Puff Sleeve Blouse
This cabinet and molding was just what this nook needed, now this space finally works and I enjoy looking at it and making proper use of the space!

I love it but I would paint the inside of the black cabinet white with lights. I saw it on Sin City Rehab and it looked amazing. All the best
