One Room Challenge Week 1: Half Bathroom

And just like that, it’s week one of the One Room Challenge again! Last spring I participated for the first time in the One Room Challenge where we transformed our master bathroom. I’m super excited to be participating again this year as a guest participant!

This time we will be totally redoing our half bathroom from floor to ceiling in just 6 weeks! And I haven’t started any projects yet. In fact, I’m still trying to narrow down my design decisions. I’ve been going back and forth on ideas for this space for months now.

Basically, I have wanted to redo this space so much since we bought the house almost six years ago. But, since it’s just a half bathroom, it always got pushed to the side. Finally, we are tackling it and I can’t wait!

Here’s a look at the current space, I can already tell this space is going to be tough to photograph!

The biggest challenge for renovating this small bathroom, besides the 6 week deadline, is that we have a limited budget for the space. Bathrooms can easily cost thousands of dollars to renovate and we are only planning to spend $500 max to redo the entire space! Thus, there will be a lot of DIY projects in this space.

And my goal is that I still want the space to look beautiful and high quality despite the fact that many aspects of the space are DIY and on a budget. This is always my goal for all of my DIY projects actually!

As I said earlier, I’m still narrowing down final design decisions, including what hardware colors I want to use. But, here is a general idea board with the direction I am going, although I know this will change some!

I want the space to be classic, modern, and rustic. Also, I want the space to flow with the rest of the house. Further, we don’t plan on staying in this house long term so I’m not going to make it super custom or high end looking. Just a beautiful, fresh, and classic design!

Alright, well that’s all I have to share for now, you can follow along on Instagram and Facebook for all my latest One Room Challenge projects. I am going to make a strong effort to share lots of behind the scenes on my Instagram stories too over the next 6 weeks!

Also, you can check out all of the other ORC participants and their room makeovers here!
