Ever since we installed our DIY paver patio this spring, I have been dreaming about adding a fire pit to it! I started looking into paver patio ideas with a fire pit.
I learned quickly how expensive fire pits can be and how many different options there are for them!
After such a big project of building our paver patio, we knew we wanted to buy a fire pit or a DIY fire pit kit rather than building a fancy, custom one from scratch. We also knew we wanted to find the best budget fire pit too! So, I started looking for firepit ideas.
Below I am sharing the final 4 easy and simple fire pit ideas on a budget that we considered as well as the one we chose!

4 Easy Fire Pit Ideas on a Budget:
1. DIY Fire Pit with Stone or Fire Pit Kit
Recently, we stayed at an Airbnb with a natural stone fire pit in the backyard. It was a lot of fun to use!
I love this classic, stone fire pit and it’s a pretty simple DIY for a fire pit area and one of the simplest DIY ideas. Check out this DIY stone fire pit tutorial from Fix This Build That for details on how to build something similar using a metal fire ring.
To make this option even simpler, this very popular stone look concrete fire pit kit is a great budget friendly, DIY option. I’ve seen this kit used a lot and it’s definitely a great way to simplify this build even more!
The concrete blocks have a natural look just like stone. We checked it out in person at the store!
The drawback to this classic style, stone firepit is the smoke and that it’s better for grass or pea gravel rather than a paver patio, at least in my opinion! But, it’s definitely one of the easy DIY fire pit ideas!
2. Rectangle Propane Fire Pit
I really wanted a smokeless fire pit for our own fire pit. And I wanted a fire pit that we could move around on our patio. I change my mind often about the layout of patio furniture and decor, so having a patio we could move around was essential!
I spent hours searching for a beautiful looking propane fire pit that would match our patio furniture, be affordable, and have good reviews too!
This 42″ propane gas fire pit from Walmart’s Better Homes and Garden line was such a good deal and what we chose.

This fire pit does have a more modern look to it, but it’s a simple fire pit design that can work with many styles! It’s super easy to use with an easy start electronic ignition and adjustable heat control.
It’s also beautiful and the quality has been great so far! No dents in it either like some of the reviews talked about!
We also added this new patio chair set and these black and white lumbar pillows to go with the fire pit and our existing outdoor furniture, including our DIY outdoor couch. A great set of Adirondack chairs or DIY outdoor chairs would look great too for the seating area!

I really think it’s one of the best budget fire pit options, it even costs less than some of the simple DIY options!
It looks great when not in use too, it has a black metal piece that covers the fire pit top, so it’s like a coffee table.
3. Round Propane Fire Pit
Another similar fire pit option is a round fire pit. Many of these come in both propane and natural gas options (that hook up to your gas line if you have one).
I really wanted to do a round fire pit for our patio, but they tend to be more expensive than the rectangle fire pits.
This round fire pit with a tank holder table is the best budget friendly option with good reviews that I found and considered getting!
It’s the most expensive option on this list, but still a great budget friendly deal compared to other similar looking round, propane fire pits. I really like the lava rocks that come with it too!
4. Iron Wood Burning Fire Pit
If you’re looking for very cheap fire pit ideas, the cheapest fire pit option on a budget with good reviews and that looks nice is this 26″ round iron wood-burning fire pit!
You really can’t beat the sale price of just $30 either! It’s also available in a 28″ fire pit size too for just a little bit more!

The addition of our new fire pit and outdoor patio chair set with a matching side table has been the perfect way to finish off our patio for the summer and create a cozy outdoor space! I may even add string lights too…
I can’t wait to use the fire pit even more this fall when the weather cools down.
