Learn how to easily hang decorations on vinyl siding with no drilling or damage by using vinyl siding hooks!
A few years ago after painting our vinyl siding in my outdoor workshop area, I needed to hang a wood sign on our vinyl.
But, drilling holes on vinyl siding is not ideal or easy. After some research, I discovered vinyl siding hooks! These hooks are awesome and I just had to share them in case you didn’t know about them!

Vinyl siding hooks are easy to use. They require no tools and do not leave any holes in your vinyl siding and are really practical and inexpensive.

You just roll them up under the seam in your vinyl siding.
You can move them where you need them and quickly remove them too with no holes or damage!

How much weight can you hang from vinyl siding hooks?
The vinyl siding hooks I used are heavy duty and each hook has a maximum weight capacity of 18 pounds, which is a lot for something so small.
Note, there are other brands, like these vinyl hooks, that hold up to 12 pounds, so just make sure to read the specifications when ordering!
What can you hang on vinyl siding hooks?
There are so many different decor items that you can hang on these hooks including:
- Planters
- Christmas lights or outdoor bistro lights
- Artwork or wall decor
- Baskets
- Wreaths
- Flags

I’ve hung wood signs and wall planters with flowers for our spring porch refresh using these clips. I’m planning to use them again on the vinyl siding above our DIY paver patio with more wall planters!

How to install clips on existing vinyl siding
As described above, you just roll the vinyl siding hook up under the seam in your vinyl siding at your desired location.
You can tug a little bit on them to ensure they are secured in place. To remove them just lift the hook up and remove it.

Pros of using vinyl siding clips
- Easy to install without tools or putting holes in vinyl siding
- Heavy duty, steel, and rust resistant material
- Easily adjustable to different heights
- Small and inconspicuous
- Inexpensive
Cons of using vinyl siding clips
There are a couple drawbacks that I could think of.
Best for lightweight to medium weight items. For anything that is really heavy I would avoid using these and look into an anchor system.
Although these clips are easily adjustable you are still a limited on the height that you can set it at by how wide your individual vinyl siding is. You may have something that falls in between where these clips can’t reach.
Despite these few cons, these hooks are so handy to use!
