Cozy Christmas Cottage Fireplace Makeover

With less than a week to go before Christmas we finished our fireplace makeover! I plan to share the DIY details and tutorial on this makeover after the holidays, but I really wanted to share it decorated for Christmas!

For our fireplace, I had a vision of a stone fireplace and I think it turned out like a cozy, cottage fireplace you would see in The Holiday (the Nancy Meyers movie)!

And fun fact, the stones are actually not real, it’s a faux stone fireplace! I used these veneer stone panels! But, we did use real mortar around them! And we did a DIY shiplap fireplace surround with vertical shiplap. It was quite the DIY project!

We also converted our gas fireplace to electric and used this electric fireplace insert that I absolutely love! The fire looks very realistic, it has crackle sound options, and a heat option! It’s very relaxing and cozy.

It’s actually the same fireplace insert we used in our prior home on our prior DIY fireplace!
