How we transformed our primary bedroom from builder grade white and dingy to a charming, relaxing bedroom filled with character! A master bedroom makeover before and after!
Welcome back to our primary bedroom makeover! I am excited to share our primary bedroom makeover BEFORE AND AFTER:

But what is a good room makeover reveal without the story to go with the before and after?! Here are all the details and the story of our primary bedroom makeover transformation!

Adding Character to a Builder Grade Room with Architectural Features
When we first moved in we replaced the dingy, old carpet with a premium, waterproof laminate flooring.

But, then nothing happened in this space for nearly 4 years, and we lived with the all white, builder grade room. Until earlier this year, when I shared Part 1 of the room makeover.
As a reminder, in Part 1, we added lots of character to our boring, builder grade bedroom with a planked ceiling using shiplap, the easiest DIY wood beams, detailed molding with lots of character for the window trim and door casing, crown molding, and extra tall 10-1/2″ tall baseboards you’d find in a 100-year-old home!
Then we warmed everything up by color-drenching the entire room in Balanced Beige by Sherwin Williams.

A Dreamy Chandelier
When I left you last, we replaced our outdated ceiling fan with this chandelier of my dreams.

Adding the Furniture: Bed and Nightstands
Next it was time to add the bed. I searched forever for the right one and found this upholstered bed that looks just like a high-end version I loved, but for a fraction of the price.
I love the curved top and the walnut turned wood legs!

Our wood nightstands were another high end look for less. The wood fluting and details gives them such a beautiful, vintage-inspired feel and they even have a hidden charging station too!
They did have a new stain smell to them when we first assembled them, but after letting them air out in the garage a few days it pretty much went away!

I do still need to finish the opposite wall in this room with a dresser and a cabinet to store our TV…so it’s not totally done! I will share that side once it’s finalized!
Vintage Inspired Rug
This gorgeous rug really helped to bring the room together and added the perfect layer of warmth.

I love the soft, muted tones and subtle vintage-inspired pattern. It brings in a calm feeling and looks timeless. It’s also low-pile and durable, which makes it practical for everyday living while still looking elevated.

Bedding
For this room and the bedding, I really wanted to bring in pattern and spring florals for the spring/summer months ahead. Mixing patterns can be a challenge, but I love how it came together!

Working in layers, I started with these beautiful, floral sheets followed by our white, pick stitch quilt.
Then, I added this white, ruffle, linen duvet cover, which was a great price for the look and comes in lots of colors too!

The bed was topped off with this green, toile reversible pick-stitch quilt that is stunning, as well as our chunky knit blanket!
With the warmer spring days ahead, I will be doing less layers, but I just love a layered bed!

Finally, for the pillows, I added our Euro pillow inserts in the white pick stitch pillowcases, a striped ruffle lumbar pillow, and block print pillow. The striped pillow is sold out, but here is another pillow from the same line in a different size.

Final Decor & Window Treatments
For our little window above the bed, which has been a design challenge, I added these pleated cafe curtains with a lovely, small floral print. They do come in multiple sizes, prints, colors, and two privacy options which was great!
I will share more on them soon, but for the hardware I used these rods (they custom cut them for me), cafe curtain rings, inside mount brackets, and a connector for the middle (with a support bracket). It’s the same hardware I used on our dining room cafe curtains and it’s great!

Finally, I finished the room off with a few finishing decor pieces, including the marble lamps, ruffle brass picture frame, and brown vase!
I searched a long time for the right lamps and I kept coming back to these lamps. I love the real marble. I may replace the lamp shades for a ruffle shade, but I am enjoying the modern shade for now!

One more set of BEFORE AND AFTER:

What do you think of this bedroom makeover?! It took quite some time to bring together but I love the charming and relaxing space it has become! I can’t wait to finish the other side of the room now!
