I know a door knob makeover may not sound as exciting as a room makeover, but trust me it can be very exciting and impactful! And it’s a very simple way to update the look of your doors and add character.
When I shared our entryway makeover last week, did you notice the door knob?! Door knobs are one of those small details that can actually make a huge difference in the way a space looks and feels.

Our entryway is the perfect example. Here is our original door knob, it’s a standard, builder grade door knob. And the door itself was looking very worn and dirty.

AFTER DOOR KNOB MAKEOVER UPGRADE:
Originally, I was going to do this more simple door knob. However, I took a chance and ordered this vintage brass and glass knob because I love the look of it and that the beaded detail complimented our entryway mirror.
I fell in love with how it looked in person with our updated entryway space and paint color. It was perfect!
At first, I thought it might be too fancy, but honestly you can get away with fancy details in an entryway. It is the first space you see when you walk in a room after all and why not make a grand entrance?! Plus, if you love how it looks in your home that is really all that matters!
Door Knob Makeover Cost
Door hardware can be pricey, but there are so many beautiful, good quality affordable options too! Especially at stores like Amazon, Lowe’s, and Home Depot!
Our new door knob cost us less than $33 and it came with the matching door strike plates too!
Upgrade door knobs vs. paint door knobs
If you upgrade door knobs with new hardware, it’s easier, less messy, and more durable than if you were to paint door knobs or spray painting.
The finish from spray painting and painting door knobs, even with using a clear coat or top coat, will eventually rub off from an often touched surface like a door knob. Trust me, I have tried this DIY project before!
So, skip the can of spray paint and drop cloth and go with the new door knobs that will last a long time!
