Sharing beautiful, tried and true, grey kitchen cabinet paint colors for a kitchen makeover or refresh!
We are getting ready to start our kitchen makeover next week. One of the biggest decisions I’ve had to make is what color to paint the kitchen cabinets!
I love gray paint colors especially for kitchen cabinets, so I did some research to find the best paint colors!
The colors I am sharing below are all well known, beautiful, tried and true gray kitchen cabinet paint colors.

You can’t go wrong with these timeless classics for gray kitchen cabinets, it’s really just a matter of seeing which paint color looks best in your space, with your lighting, and your decor and personal preference!
Always keep in mind, when it comes to picking paint colors, it’s a good idea to get a paint sample to try in your space! I like to see the samples in both natural lighting and artificial lighting in the room.
7 Grey Kitchen Cabinet Paint Colors:
1. Mindful Gray by Sherwin Williams
Mindful Gray is #1 on my list because it is one of my favorite gray paint colors of all time, it’s the perfect gray to me! It’s actually a greige color too (a mix of gray and beige).
I first fell in love with the color when I used it on our DIY board and batten wall, but then I proceeded to use it again in our DIY bathroom makeover, and our painted kitchen cabinets.
For our DIY kitchen makeover in our previous home, we used Mindful Gray on the lower cabinets and the DIY board and batten kitchen island, then we did white cabinets for the uppers.

It’s not too light and not too dark, it’s a great medium shade of gray that’s on the warmer side. But it looks beautiful in cooler light, artificial light, and warm light too! I had to resist using it again for our current kitchen.
It’s a go to gray paint color that is well loved by many!

2. Edgecomb Gray by Benjamin Moore
If you want a very subtle gray, with a hint of creamy, gray color, Edgecomb Gray, is a beautiful, greige paint color choice!
I used this color on our DIY kitchen cabinet built ins and it’s so pretty against our butcher block countertops and brass hardware.

It’s the perfect neutral gray paint color. It’s hues are hard to capture on camera, but it’s stunning in person.

3. Anew Gray by Sherwin Williams
Cooking with Carlee’s kitchen remodel, along with Refuge Interiors by Casey, used Anew Gray by Sherwin Williams. This mid-tone gray looks beautiful on the kitchen cabinetry and next to the dark stained wood tones in this kitchen around the window.

4. Dorian Gray by Sherwin Williams
If you want a very true, classic gray, Dorian Gray by Sherwin Williams is perfect.

I used this color on our DIY garage cabinets and it contrasts great with the Pure White by Sherwin Williams shiplap and wall color.
I love how this color looks with black or oil rubbed bronze hardware too.

5. Chelsea Gray by Benjamin Moore
If you want a gray that’s a bit on the mid to dark tone, consider Chelsea Gray by Benjamin Moore.
Inspiration for Moms kitchen used this color in her kitchen and I love how crisp it looks with the white subway tile.

6. Pashmina by Benjamin Moore
I first discovered Pashmina after watching XO, MaCenna’s kitchen remodel on YouTube. It’s a beautfiul, earthy, warm gray with a little brown/beige in it. Definitely check her makeover video out to see this gorgeous color on kitchen cabinets.
I used Pashmina on my son’s DIY headboard here for a visual of the color in different lighting:

I am seriously considering Pashmina for our kitchen makeover! It’s one of my top two choices along with Revere Pewter below.
Here is Edgecomb Gray, Revere Pewter, and Pashmina from left to right:

7. Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore
When I was first testing out paint colors for our kitchen cabinet built ins, revere pewter by Benjamin Moore was one of my final choices, along with edgecomb gray and creamy white.

It’s a popular choice and for good reason! It looks beautiful in all different light settings and it’s a beautiful, calm, lovely paint color.
You really can’t go wrong with this neutral color, as it works with many different kitchen styles and any color palette! I love how it adds a bit of warm tones and gray color, without being overly gray, you know what I mean?
I’m leaning towards this color because I think it will work well for our white walls and open concept kitchen that connects to so many different rooms in our home.

No matter what paint color you pick for your grey cabinets, any shade of gray is a great option since it’s a versatile color that works well in a small kitchen or larger kitchen for grey kitchen cabinet paint colors.

Hi Angela - I love all these grays too. Which gray will complement golden brown teak wood and white ice granite with grey and taupe freckles.
